Mini-Presentation
My Presentation is on the Miracle League of Sarasota. This is a non-profit organization for special needs kids with physical and mental disabilities. The idea of the program is to get all the kids and adults of all ages on 6 different baseball teams. Every Saturday they come out to the "Miracle Field" (A rubber surface mini baseball field, built and paid for by sponsor families). Each team will play 1 3-inning game where everyone hits, and plays the field. There are no outs, and there is no score. IT just gives these kids the opportunity to feel special once a week, and get to do something they are not normally able to do. This community is very close to me as I've gone to help out for almost 5 years near. As as far as genre's go, I guess it is sort of a form philanthropy, or community service. This is by far my favorite genre in a community because it affords you the opportunity to be thankful for what you have, and to be gracious towards others. Miracle league isn't just a place to get community service hours, it's really a magical place and will change your whole perspective on life. It's hard not to tear up when you attend one of these events. Giving up 4-5 hours every Saturday of my high-school career was always worth it because i know that my presence made several of those kids' weeks. Just seeing these kids put a smile on, ear to ear, truly warms your heart.
